School Closing Date Extended

March 20, 2020

Today, Governor JB Pritzker announced a “stay at home” order for the state of Illinois, beginning at 5PM on Saturday, March 21st, and lasting through April 7th.  Therefore, school will remain closed through April 7th.  As the COVID-19 situation remains fluid, so will the return to school date.  You will be updated as soon as a date is known.

During the “stay at home order”, the Carthage Elementary School District will continue to serve meals to students as we have this week.  The meals are available to all students in the district, at no cost.  The meals are prepared at the middle school, by our school cooks and can be picked up between 11AM and 1 PM, Monday through Friday, in the school alley.  If you have no way of picking up the meals, we will provide delivery.  Each student will receive lunch for the day and breakfast for the following day.  You must sign up in advance for the meals by calling the middle school at 217-357-3914 or the district office at 217-357-3922.  If your call goes to voicemail, please leave a message stating that you would like to receive meals and a call back number.  We will be checking messages over the weekend.

We will be providing additional information as it becomes available regarding educational activities and E-Learning for the students, etc.  All updates can also be found on the school Facebook pages and the district website at: www.cesd317.org.
