We Had Our First BLUE Pod Meeting Today at Carthage Primary! 💙
Today, our students took part in our very first multi-grade level BLUE Pod meeting! Each pod met together and built connections using the EdTomorrow First 5 and circle discussions. This was a great chance for students to meet staff and peers outside their grade level, build community, and start learning how to support one another across the school.
Want to keep the conversation going at home? Here are a few questions you could ask your child:
• Who is in your BLUE Pod? Did you meet any new friends?
• What circle question did you answer today? How did you respond?
• Did anything surprise you during your group discussion?
• What are the rules and expectations in your BLUE Pod?
• How do you think being part of a pod will help our school family?
We’re excited to see how these pod connections continue to grow throughout the year!

One of our favorite new traditions is High-Five Fridays! Each Friday, students from Illini West High School join us at arrival time to welcome our primary students into the building with smiles, high-fives, and encouragement. It’s a wonderful way to build connections across our schools and start the day with positivity. We’re excited to keep this tradition going each Friday!
Check out the news at 5 or 6:00p.m. on WGEM regarding our collaboration with Memorial Hospital. It takes a village to raise a child, so if you have expertise to share with our teachers and students, please reach out to Dr. Day or the building principals.

Wow, what a way to start the school year! I hope you have heard as many positive stories about these first few days as I have and thank you for your patience as we get used to our new normal at CMS.
Monday started with a welcome and the students chanting, "I am awesome! Change is difficult. I can do difficult things!" before being released to their classes. We started using Today's First Five in classrooms and ended with the installation of a new GaGa Pit and popsicles, both donated to the students of CMS.
We have a request for next week and moving forward to use the alley or Washington Street for drop off and pick up. The businesses across the street and the bus lane should not be used at these times.
Thank you! I look forward to a great year at CMS.
